Our Mission

The purpose of the coaches working with Ray Burris is to prepare players to play baseball at the collegiate level.

About Us

In the spring of 2000 the K.C.Monarchs youth baseball team was formed and played in the Mansfield Youth Baseball Association under the leadership of Head Coach Mike Choice and assistant Coach Michael Carr.  The team was named to represent the legendary Kansas City Monarchs of the Negro Professional Baseball leagues from the 20's, 30’s, 40’s, & 50’s.  Those great Kansas City Monarchs teams won more championships than any other professional baseball team in their era, but what was most important was their class and character.

In 2002 in Hutchison, Kansas the K.C.Monarchs won the USSSA "AAA" 12U World Series, which consisted of 88 teams from 20 plus states.  After winning this National tournament Coach Choice retired from coaching the K.C.Monarchs.

Coach Carr became the head coach of the K.C.Monarchs during the fall 2002 season.  Under his leadership the 2004 K.C.Monarchs achieved a record of 53-16-1 and competed in two national tournaments.  In addition to this success Coach Carr fostered a partnership with the Ray Burris Academy of Sports Instruction (RBASI) and recruited Don Buckley, one of the premiere select coaches in the Metroplex to join the K.C.Monarchs coaching staff.

In the spring of 2007, the K.C.Monarchs decided to change its team name to the Fort Worth Monarchs in order to help in the recruiting process of players.
